 Testimonials 1995- Present

I have known Nancy for what seems like forever now. She has that effect on people. The moment you meet her it is like she is your best friend. She not only is a joy to be around, but she get's the job done and done well. I always look forward to meeting with Nancy, because I know no matter what kind of role I may  be coming in for it will be a real collaboration between the two of us. She  really listens to my perspective and gives her own and we always come up with a great end product. I am enamored with the techniques she uses to make tapes more interesting and dynamic rather than here's a wall here's a chair and here's me doing the same scene you've probably seen a thousand times. Nancy has gotten  me far on so many projects. I worked for Disney for five years and I firmly  believe without Nancy I wouldn't have. She taped me for one of their pilots which I went on to book which led to the show I had the privilege of working on , "Wizards of Waverly Place'  (which she also put me on tape for). I think Nancy is a very talented artist not only in the taping aspect, but also in coaching. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

“It doesn’t matter if you are 5, 15 or 50, the first time you walk into Nancy’s class you immediately feel that you are in an environment that is welcoming, loving and safe for you to feel vulnerable in opening your soul at the endless possibilities of acting. Nancy is not just an acting coach; she is a life lessons mentor. She helps you better understand yourself and how your own mind works so that you can walk into the shoes of another character. She enforces the idea that “you alone are interesting enough for people” and encourages her students to honor the skills she teaches for becoming someone else while being filmed on camera. For me personally, I came to Nancy when I was in 8th grade. I had a million questions about myself and it was a point in time (like so many young teenagers go through) where I was finding out who I really was. Nancy helped me answer those questions. She built a confidence in me I never knew I could develop. She has helped guide me for the past 5 years, not to just become a better actor and director, but to become a better person. There has never been anyone I have looked up to for wisdom, guidance and love more than Nancy; and even now living in Los Angeles, I still have never forgotten a single lesson she has taught me and can always reach her if I ever have any questions, not just about acting…but about life! I attended Nancy’s class every Friday night for 5 straight years and there was NEVER a class where I didn’t learn a new skill or discover something new within myself. Words are too small to express how thankful I am for Nancy, everything I have achieved as a National Award Winning Director & Represented Actor… I owe it all to her.”

"Nancy has certainly taken my skillset to the next level! After one very short year in her class, (including 8 months of Zoom classes) I’ve gotten an agent and have been cast in multiple SAG roles, including a co-starring, recurring role in a network TV series and major brand commercials! She has the unique ability of seeing through your performance to draw out and assess those things that hinder you, while magnifying the things that will make you great. She teaches the skills that matter…both in life and in front of the camera. She is fully accessible and helpful with everything from self-tape auditions to what to do when you snag the job. Which you definitely will if you stick with her long enough.  I’m not only a better actress for having taken her class, I’m a better person"

Finding a coach you can trust and connect with in this industry is not only vital for you to form your craft – but it is rare to find! Nancy has been that person for me from the first time we met on a set of my first movie, not knowing at that time that a year later we would cross paths again and I would be studying under her. She brings a different understanding of the business that is very intuitive, isn’t self-seeking, and has a peace to it. Nancy teaches you how to prepare a script that brings the character true to your self, pushes your emotional boundaries, and brings depth to your performances. Since working with Nancy my bookings have begun to grow and I can tell my craft has become greater; but I still know there will always be depths that she can bring me to and I am excited about the years ahead!

"I was struggling. No bookings. No callbacks. And then I returned to Nancy, and she quickly pulled out the heart that was missing in my auditions and performances. Within three weeks, a major movie studio had checked my availability for a feature film (from a video audition coached by Nancy!), AND I was cast in a terrific co-star role on a national television series, "Halt and Catch Fire". I still have so much to learn and solidify with Nancy, but I am so thankful for what she has already taught me. Simply stated, Nancy knows the talent hidden deep inside all of us and is a genius at pulling it out into the open."

Nancy has always been there for me when I needed her. She taught me the technique of realism in acting. I had been pursuing theater for 11 years when we met and was struggling with whether to continue down this path or pursue film acting or try to do both. Nancy taught me the idea of film acting and how it interacts with the emotion and reality of my own life. She has continued to cheer me on as I pursue my dreams!

Studying under Nancy is being in a constant state of evolution. She continuously challenges me and taps into those unexposed, internal spaces that we tend to bury deep inside of us. Over the past 2 years, Nancy has provided me with individualized training within a group setting. She plays on my strengths which, in turn, builds the confidence to step outside of my comfort zones.
I do not know who I am anymore or, at least, who I thought I was. I have ended up discovering the real me. Class is equal parts learning and therapy. She relentlessly peels through the layers of my walls and blocks through challenging and diverse exercises. I have become both a well-rounded and well-prepared actor. All of my training comes to the forefront during auditions and performances.
Not only is Nancy a great teacher but she also gives excellent industry guidance. She has pushed me to play a more pivotal role in my own success by encouraging continual education via workshops, self-marketing, and networking. Her training and guidance has resulted in a drastic increase in auditions and bookings; I landed my first national commercial with AT&T U-Verse this year!

I was referred to Nancy and I'm so glad I was! I needed help with a monologue for an agency audition coming up. Nancy not only helped me perform my monologue; she also helped find a monologue that would work for me. Nancy was so nice, professional,  honest, and provided constructive criticism during our private session. Thanks to her,  I did great at my audition and was signed to the agency that same day!
My son learned more in this one hour than he did in three days with _______ workshop!!! Great to know about memorizing sides for a film audition, memorizing in monotone, and saying it all together with no pauses- to lock it in. Then you create the background so the emotions are truthful and organic so you can be directed without going up on the lines. Loved it!

I highly recommend and have consistently recommended Nancy Chartier for acting instruction.  Her teaching style forces her students to love acting, look forward to class and want to be great.   I have a young child and was stunned at how much my daughter learned in just the first class.  This is definitely NOT glorified baby-sitting.  Nancy's small class size promotes participation and collaboration with other students.  She is thoughtful, caring, hard-working and does an excellent job communicating to me how my daughter is doing in class.  Because of Nancy's excellent instruction, my daughter was ready to audition after only a few months and has consistently improved since she started classes two years ago.  If you need an acting instructor, industry mentor or life coach, Nancy Chartier should be your first choice.

Having a theatre background, I came into Nancy's class with not one ounce of film technique.  She taught me the first steps of the Meisner Method.  She is so incredibly knowledgeable and forthcoming with instruction.  She taught me how to prepare a script -- to bring my true self to the words written on the page.  She has the ability to understand her students and what they need to bring out the best in their work.  She is a gifted teacher and actor.

Nancy provides a safe, positive environment in which we can explore different emotions and take risks.  Nancy intuitively knows what our acting blocks are and guides us in how to break through them.  She truly cares about her actors and wants us to succeed.  I always walked away from her class learning something new about myself as an actor and person.  Nancy is an amazing, talented teacher and I feel truly blessed to have worked with her.

Nancy Chartier is simply one of the most talented individuals that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. There are words ad infinitum that I could write about Nancy. Work with her. See what she can do. Her ability is unlimited.

When I think about Nancy Chartier, I see her as a coach, confidant, cheerleader and a friend.  Nancy has a unique gift of seeing our individual strengths (even those we are unaware of).  She has always challenged us to challenge ourselves, to be emotionally brave, and to face the unknown.  Nancy has a heart of gold. She believes strongly in us and our potential.  I feel very privileged to have known and studied with Nancy.

I've known Nancy for about 20 yrs. She is professional and great at what she does as an actress, producer and acting teacher. She knows how to treat people and work in an ensemble situation. I would work with her again, in a New York minute!

The extent of knowledge Nancy has on and off camera amazes me. Just when I think I’ve learned everything there is to know about acting, I step into her class and learn an abundance of information each time. Her classes have taught me great acting skills that I will take with me for the rest of my life. I can truly say I have never met an acting coach that cares for each individual need of all of her students. Her class has made auditioning for anything a breeze! She has given me the confidence and perseverance I need to pursue this profession and I can not thank her enough!

First and foremost, Nancy is a first-class professional with extraordinary attributes that allow her to be uniquely personal and genuine in an industry which might trim these attributes in people with lesser Souls.
Her natural sensitivities and extensive background as an actor– – combined with her extreme dedication to the personal, emotional, and professional growth of each and every one of her students rocket this woman to a level of excellence across the full spectrum of both coaching and teaching.
She is able to convey and impart countless vital aspects of genuine authenticity and self-esteem to her students, who she unabashedly trains to become her peers. And for those who are already "old hands" in this business, Nancy is able to aptly and seamlessly refresh, renew, and revitalize those who come to her exciting and scintillating classes.
She truly shines at what she does with patience, humor and enthusiasm!
No matter which technique or aspect of the film acting experience: script management, teamwork tools, communication skills, scene work, comfortably working with the camera, improvisation, and every other aspect involved in the development of the individual as a film actor – including personal awareness and mindfulness.
Our DFW film industry is truly blessed to have such a dedicated and industrious woman of such high "character" in this "role"! Thank you, Nancy.

Nancy has been crucial to my development as an actor.  She draws out emotions and impulses from students that make scenes both more real and more interesting.  She helped me work through insecurities and barriers that were limiting my emotional range in scenes.  I am both a stronger and more versatile actor since I have studied with her.  Nancy, you are the best!

Nancy Chartier helped me reach the levels of acting that I never thought I had.  She gets to know the "real" you so she knows how to coach you.  Nancy is very real, fun, energetic, and very knowledgeable about the actors' world.  She knows how to help you take your life experiences and use them to your benefit.  I would not be where I am today without Nancy.

Thank you for making time for Kaitlynn yesterday – she hit a home run and feels GREAT today.  She laid everything she had out on the table and left with a glowing and accomplished smile.  She was writing notes on her script in the car all the way to Austin.. looking out the window, getting into her character – she almost looked depressed. But I left her alone.. preparing.  Then we got there and in the waiting room, we caught wind that she would also have to sing “Amazing Grace!”.. and due to Chris Seay getting her out of her comfort zone last year and making her SING.. she felt great about it –  I must have had a nervous look and she said “mom!, I got this – no worries and she poked my forehead.. – I GOT THIS” ..Apparently she knew  the song from church choir and was not afraid to belt it out!.. the walls were thin and we heard her sing Amazing Grace from the waiting room and it TOTALLY surprised me.  And then you hear Beth Sepko say “I LOVE IT!” .. and Kaitie walked out smiling EAR to EAR…She said “I DID IT. and Mom, everything happens for a reason – I did everything I needed to do.

Tiana started classes with Nancy in July 2012.  She had been attending an acting studio in _______ and it had almost ruined her.  She only wanted to work with print and told me that acting was not for her.  Her self esteem had been torn down and her lack of confidence during auditions stood out tremendously causing her to fail repeatedly.  We quit attending this particular acting studio, then suddenly was referred to Nancy by a former student who has been extremely successful in this industry.  Literally, within one class, Tiana's eyes were beaming!!!  After the first class, she begged to come back again, and then again.  We started attending as much that our schedule would allow.  She recently auditioned for a Sag National commercial and ended up making it all the way down to her and one other girl.  I give all the credit to Nancy.  She has built her confidence, and has taught her in a way that she fell in love with acting all over again.  We both LOVE Nancy and owe her more than we'll ever be able to repay!!  She is priceless!!!!!

Nancy Chartier not only focuses on technical aspects of auditioning and performing, but also works with each student to help them through individual emotional barriers to bring out the best performances.  She is honest as well as encouraging.  I have been with Nancy for almost 2 years and feel she still has many things to teach me.
